You can now get an MP3 Player for the living room, and competitors for Real Networks RealJukebox are emerging, such as the store-bought MusicMatch . I've found that without particularly aiming in that direction, my PC has become my home music centre, most of the time playing music (recorded onto the harddrive from CD) via RealJukebox. 07/11/1999		The GIF War may be a bit of an irrelevance after all. It seems most Websites will not require a Unisys licence to use GIF images, since they'll be covered by the licences issued for GIF creation software, such as Adobe Photoshop.

15/04/1999		Not such good news in the UK budget for IT contractors. Although newsletter IR35 from the Inland Revenue seemed as though it might mean reduced incomes for those working through their own limited company, early comment from accountants seemed to suggest the standard way of working for IT contractors was not, after all, under attack. However a recent interpretation based on an interview with the person responsible for drafting the new legislation looks decidedly gloomy. The engineerjob website seems to be a focal point for concerned contractors.
