Help - Browser Compatibility

Browser Requirements

* This website has been designed with the later versions (3.0 upwards) of Netscape and Microsoft browsers (and other compatibles) in mind. I have also tried to make allowances for small screens such as WebTV and Palmtop/HandHeld computers, and non-graphical browsers where possible. [Download]
* Older browsers (version 2.0 of Netscape and Microsoft browsers and older, plus their equivalents) may get a presentation that doesn't look so nice on parts of my website. However it will still be possible to navigate the site with these browsers. These browsers are now a tiny minority, so come on you guys, upgrade[www link] ! [Download]
* You should have Javascript turned on for the best experience of this website, but you don't strictly speaking need it. [Download]
* Java and ActiveX are not required, nor are any plugins.

The Promise

* Every minor update to this website will get tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 on Windows 98 at screen resolution 1152x864 in 16bit colour. You should never experience problems browsing my website with this configuration.
* New pages and major updates will additionally get tested in at least two different versions of Netscape Navigator and at smaller screen resolutions down to 640x480.
* Total site redesigns will get tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 and the following versions of Navigator: 4.05, 3.04, 2.02, 1.22. It is not feasible for me to routinely test further versions of Internet Explorer since Microsoft make it impossible to have more than one version of IE on a single machine.
* Whenever I have the opportunity, I will test my site from other versions of Internet Explorer and Navigator, from other browsers, and from other operating platforms besides Microsoft Windows.

Why is this all so complicated ? Well, it shouldn't be of course ... read what the Web Standards Project people have to say.
